You start in Austria, cross Slovenia and arrive in Trieste: a series of pre-existing paths mapped together as a single unique route.
43 stages, each about 20 km long, for a total of 750 km through Austria, Slovenia and Italy.
Each stage can be travelled in either direction by following the signs. If this seems too daunting, you can opt for a single stage or perhaps the 3 Nations Tour, 123 km in 7 daily stages between Carinthia (in Austria), Slovenia and Italy - a short version of the Alpe Adria Trail.
The Alpe Adria Trail website displays all the marked and geo-referenced routes, the stages in the Trieste area from Duino to Muggia, and all deals and packages.
