An enjoyable stroll among approximately 600 different species of flowers, plants and small insects will surely spark the interest of both you and your children.

Carsiana is a synopsis of the Karst landscape, an exhaustive representation of the region's main ecological aspects. 

This small area - 5000 mq - holds natural depictions of the Karst region's main geomorphological formations and their respective plant populations. 

Visitors can tour Carsiana unaccompanied, aided by informational material provided in Italian, Slovene, English and German, or request a guided tour, in Italian, Slovene or English, for groups.

The botanical garden is located inside a doline (sinkhole) in the municipality of Sgonico, 18 km from Trieste.

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, days before public holidays and public holidays
15 May – 20 June: 10.00–18.00;
21 June – 15 August: 10.00–19.00;
16 August – 11 October: 10.00–18.00,

On other days, access to the garden will be available only to groups by prior booking.
