Since 1982, the Club dei Venti all'Ora has organized recreations of the Trieste Opicina race, an event in which the objective of the competition is no longer speed but rather a steady pace on timed stretches of the course.

The route is not limited solely to Trieste, but extends into Friuli Venezia Giulia and the neighbouring countries.
