On the 150th anniversary of the construction of the Town Hall (1875-2025), which dominates today's Piazza Unità and forms its institutional hub, the Municipality of Trieste is dedicating an iconic photographic exhibition entitled “La Fototeca in piazza. Scatti di storia e storie” (The Photo Library in the Square. Snapshots of history and stories) to this beating heart of city life.
The signatures are those who have contributed to “writing” the history of photography in Trieste, starting with the master Ugo Borsatti: among the works on display is the one that, shortly before leaving this earth, he described as his best shot, depicting Piazza Unità in the rain. It is recognisable by the large size of the print.
