Teatro Miela
piazza Duca degli Abruzzi 3

The Teatro Miela, inaugurated on March 3, 1990 and managed by Bonawentura sc, is unique in Italy and is a source of study and the subject of several dissertations on the history of theatre.

The theatre seats 295 people, while the foyer has 60 seats, a bar and an exhibition space. It was dedicated to the brilliant visual and theatrical artist from Trieste Miela Reina who, as well as being a painter of great importance was also a 'tireless entertainer’ of the cultural scene of Trieste during the 1960s and 70s.

Always identified as an alternative theatre, it offers a program that ranges from prose, music, cabaret, cinema and visual arts to meetings of cultural insights with journalists and writers. Moreover, it has recently started an intense continuous activity of seminars and theatrical workshops.

It hosts important film festivals and shows and collaborates in numerous events of other associations and cultural realities of the area.

In short, a ‘central’ theatre from every point of view, that over the years has been able to develop its nature as an actual cultural agency and open space at the service of the city.
