The Biodiversitario Marino (BioMa), the immersive museum of the Miramare Marine Nature Reserve, is situated in the former Stables of Miramare castle. BioMa allows visitors to discover the marine biodiversity of Miramare and the Gulf of Trieste through an immersion experience - available year-round - covering the entire panoply of the Reserve's environments, from the sea surface to the depths, from macro- to micro- animal and plant organisms. 

Everything is designed for visitors of all ages to learn about marine biodiversity: reconstructions of the submerged reef; sections of sand and mud sediments with their inhabitants; dioramas of sea meadows; life-size reproductions of sunfish, bottlenose dolphins and other pelagic animals; immersive videos and 3D representations of jellyfish and colourful nudibranchs; acoustic showers reproducing the sounds of the sea; a nocturnal sea tunnel showing the spectacular phenomenon of bioluminescence; and a special touch tank aquarium with bottom-dwelling organisms.  

On the stairs up to the first floor, a whirling vortex of plastic introduces the theme of human impact on the marine environment, which is examined on the top floor.

The 300 square metre space is home not only to the exhibits, but also to a spacious educational workshop, a multimedia room and an area intended for use by children, for library activities, or for workshop and creative activities that can be set up and operated in cooperation with other local bodies.
