The imposing castle, built in 1374, was used for military defence until 1700, and then abandoned until 1900.
In 1991 it was bought by the sculptor Villi Bossi, who renovated it.
The castle is affiliated to the Consortium for the Protection of the Historic Castles of Friuli Venezia Giulia and can be visited by reservation.
Although the castle is not always open, the town of Muggia is certainly worth a visit.
