San Giacomo washhouse
The San Giacomo washhouse is the only washhouse left standing in Trieste
The scouts were given the task of reviving this part of the city's history and life (which was unknown to many youths), with the objective of keeping it alive in the memories of people who had experienced it directly and those who had only heard stories about it.
The washhouse has a permanent historical exhibition on the job washerwomen performed and the soap industry. The building is also a meeting place that can be used free of charge by cultural associations, hosting a number of various events for the public.
