Agriturismo Scheriani

The typical Karst produce of this Muggia agriturismo can be enjoyed against a breathtaking backdrop of the Gulf of Trieste.

Among the greenery of olive trees on a Muggia hillside, with a wonderful view over the entire Gulf of Trieste, lies a centuries-old farm.

In the mid-19th century local landowners from Muggia and Trieste began to sell land to invest in the new shipyards at Muggia, and at the end of the century the Milloch family bought the current property, where almonds, olives, cherries and vines were already being cultivated.
The family undertook a series of improvements, including the conversion and restructuring of plots and farm buildings.
Since 1997 the farm has been run by Fabiana Scheriani and her husband Fulvio Tomini.

The Scheriani farm produces about 5,000 litres of wine annually, primarily Istrian Malvasia and Refosco, as well as blends from white and red grapes that are mostly bottled and sold at the farm and in the trattoria. The Piccola Negra and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties deserve particular mention.

Farm produce, including wine, oil, fresh fruit, asparagus, prosciutto crudo, roast ham, pancetta and cured meats, is available from March to August. You can also enjoy typical local cuisine, including Jota and Bobici minestrone, homemade gnocchi, omelettes, grilled meats, roasts andCalandraca stew. Seasonal vegetables are always available as a side dish.

There are also 200 olive trees in production at Scheriani, some over 100 years old and the rest planted since 1970. Varieties include Bianchera (70%), Leccino, Pendolino and Frantoio.
