Carlo Schmidl Theatre Museum
Created in December 1924 as desired by the music publisher, dealer and collector Carlo Schmidl (1859-1943).
The Civic Theatre Museum in Palazzo Gopcevich documents the life of theatre and music in Trieste from the 18th century to the present day.
It contains posters, costumes and jewellery; paintings, prints, drawings and photographs; marionettes and puppets; musical instruments, medals, archives and manuscripts; a large library, a media library and an extraordinary musical collection.
There are also areas dedicated to Giorgio Strehler, whose personal archive is housed in the museum.
