Saint Honoré Pastry shop

Since it was first established by Roberto Mosenich in 1989, the Saint Honorè pastry shop in Opicina has been delighting residents of the Karst plateau, Trieste, Slovenia and farther afield.

The shop produces countless specialities, but is best known for three unique desserts, all available in special souvenir packaging. The first is a filled chocolate in the shape of the tram that has connected Opicina and Trieste since 1902, and was first produced in 1992 to celebrate its 90th anniversary. The second is the "Torta Carsolina", a baked dessert made with walnuts and almonds that was created in 1997. The third is the "Torta Trieste", a baked dessert made with Tergeste DOP olive oil, almonds, chocolate and hazelnuts, first produced in 2007.

High quality has always been the guiding principle at this pastry shop, which has just celebrated 25 years in business. The shop window has a display of different gift packages that make ideal presents for gourmands. They include: "el can de Trieste" made of chocolate-covered marzipan, the "diorama della barcolana", depicting the sea, the "borino" and sailboats in extra-dark chocolate, and "Mikeze e Jakeze", the figures who strike the time on the town-hall clock, made of 70% extra-dark chocolate. The shop has other original gift ideas waiting to be discovered while you enjoy the speciality named "intanto" (meaning in the meantime)…
